British Indian Rock Artist Maya Lakhani, was born into the rock scene, playing in bands from the age of 12.   When the pandemic hit in 2020, Maya felt a deep need to create music.  With no band and in isolation, she learnt how to write, record & produce her own music from her bedroom in lockdown, performing all guitars & vocals.

Maya released her debut single, “The Line”, in 2020, to high critical acclaim.  She received extensive airplay from BBC Introducing and was featured on 3 Spotify editorial playlists (All New Rock, New Noise & Fierce Femmes)."The Line" also received UK national airplay on Planet Rock with Wyatt Wendels & Radio X with John Kennedy.

Her follow up single, "Walk Alone" was released in April 2021. A song inspired by the conversations around women’s safety, and the desire to walk alone without fear of attack or abuse.  “Walk Alone” also received extensive airplay, with BBC Introducing describing it as “Absolutely stunning, haunting rock” and John Kennedy picking it as one of his “Hot Ones” on Radio X, saying “Incredible to think that this was written, recorded & produced in her bedroom on her own, it sounds amazing”. She also received coverage from Rolling Stone Magazine, and was spotlighted as one of the most memorable British Asian artists of 2021 by Eastern Eye, the leading British Asian national newspaper.

Maya is excited to release her latest offering “Nightfall” on 21st January 2022, a song that encapsulates her unique brand of stylish self-produced bedroom rock.
